Move your body, engage your mind, free your spirit.
Move your body, engage your mind, free your spirit.

It’s Saturday morning. Fresh and crisp air cuts through the space above your covers, and it can be hard to break away from the comfort of your bed.

Before you get moving too quickly, think about all the potential that the next couple of days can hold.

Since most weekdays are full of agenda and responsibility, relish in the fact that weekends can be a little more open, flexible and free. Whether your weekend days are crazy or chill, they always seem to fly-by, so take these tips to help you seize your Saturdays and Sundays from the very start.

1. Move Your Body

Sometimes the hardest part about morning exercise is getting going, but you know how good you will feel once you’re up and out. Think about the best way to invigorate your body so that you’ll be ready to roll for the rest of the weekend. A morning yoga session can be perfect for a more gradual physical awakening, and an early run can quickly awaken your senses from the moment you step out the door. Do whatever you need to do to awaken your body to the world this weekend.

2. Give Yourself Nourishment

Have a healthy breakfast to give your body energy for a full weekend. Have fun with making seasonal recipes, and treat yourself to a brew of loose leaf tea or french press coffee. Make sure to include a substantial amount of fiber and protein in your morning meal so that you get your digestive system moving and stay satisfied in the hours after you eat. Sweeten your breakfast with fresh fruit, and be sure to take the time to sit down and savor every last bite.

3. Refresh Your Space

Don’t spend your whole morning cleaning, but take some time to make a clean sweep from a busy week. It doesn’t take a lot of time to make your bed, put away you clothes, wash the dishes and take out the trash. They may sound a lot like childhood chores, but you may be surprised how much cleaning your space can help you clear your head. Physical and emotional clutter can get in the way of your peace of mind, intention and creativity, so take a few moments to pick up scattered pieces.

4. Make Your Intentions

Think about how you want to fulfill your time and energy this weekend. Make a list of all the things you would like to accomplish, and create a few specific intentions to help you do so. Maybe you want to catch-up with friends, or perhaps you are planning an adventure to somewhere beautiful. Two days is enough to shift from a full week into a fulfilling weekend, so layout your plans and desires to make the most of every hour.
