You’ve likely heard about Peloton — an engaging and effective indoor cycling program that has everyone spinning. These bikes are customized to get you in the best riding shape of your life and fit into your schedule with virtual spin classes available on demand. The Vail Vitality Center has six Peloton spin bikes, so you can come and get in your workout whenever it fits into your schedule.
Vitality Center member Alexa Hellstrom uses the Peloton bikes an average of three days a week.
“I like to mix my exercises up between Angela’s Barre Rhythm™ and Brent’s Total Body Workout,” Hellstrom shares.
It’s the diversity of the Peloton classes that she says keeps her coming back for more — from high intensity class with Robyn Arzon and Arms and Intervals with Jessica King.
“Depending on how much time I have, I take either 30-minute classes or 45-minute, she shares.
Sometimes she takes Beyond The Ride classes that offer stretching or arm-specific workouts after a hard cycling session.
“Peloton is literally addicting,” explains Hellstrom. “Once I discovered the bike and the teachers I adore, like Alex, Cody, Jess and Robyn, I crave the classes. I love that I can show up and anytime of the day and take the class of my choice. The bikes record my miles, number of classes and shows me the classes my twin sister in Florida and my best friend out here in Vail take too. We have the same taste in classes, and seeing what they have taken motivates me to take the same classes.”
Member Craig Bettis, says he works out on the Peloton bikes two to three days a week during the winter, and maintains his cycling fitness outside in the summer months.
“Peloton has overall helped my fitness regime,” Bettis says. “The fact that I can show up at the gym whenever I would like helps me to work out five to six times a week. Peloton is not just a bike, it’s a full on body workout. I feel stronger every day.”
The bikes allow for individual adjustments, so riders can set them up perfectly for their height. The “on-demand” class feature allows riders to pick between the length of the ride and the time of training, with just a few swipes of a finger.
“The instructor’s do a great job of keeping you motivated during training and live classes offer that extra boost of competitive push,” says Hellstrom.
And for those months when riding a bike outside isn’t really an option in the mountains, Bettis says the Peloton keeps his training dialed.
“It provides me an outlet during the long winter months to keep my cardio training strong,” he says, “and reduces the early season training lag.”
