Here’s our part 2 on lymph; READ MORE HERE on your lymph system and detoxification for spring cleaning in you body!

All of the body’s moving parts and internal systems work together to try and maintain health and vitality for you, but leave it to the lymph system to level off toxicity, acidity and inflammation.

“This is why maintaining good lymphatic drainage is vital for a strong immune system and maintaining optimal health,” says Dr. Steven Schwartz of Balanced Health Center, Vail Valley.

Dr. Schwartz has been specializing in the treatment of chronic illness, allergies, systemic inflammation and chronic pain since 2000.

Like any other fluid system in the body, he says, if the lymph system becomes congested, the ability to clear away toxins and infection becomes reduced.

“Making sure the lymphatic channels are maintained and open have always been central to the core foundation of treating these kinds of conditions, regardless of the diagnosis,” he explains. “If acidity, chronic infection, toxicity from both our internal and external environment is the central cause of chronic illness, it only makes sense to make sure ones primary detoxification organs and channels are open appropriately.”

Dr. Schwartz adds that the primary detoxification organs in the body include the liver, kidneys, bladder, skin and lymphatic system.

“If these detox organs are blocked, or dysfunctional, natural elevation of toxins become backed up, propitiating an acidic environment leads to increased inflammation,” he says. “This inflammatory response may not be the primary cause of illness, but it will act as a contributing factor to the continuation of illness of the disease process, and creating an ideal environment for disease to flourish.”

Flush It Out

Options for accessing and opening the lymphatic system include stimulating it through massage, scrubbing and low-level vibrations.

The Spa at the Vitality Center is offering special pricing on spa therapy treatments during the spring season. The special takes 40% off on any of the spa’s 75 or 100-minute treatments, and 30% off on 50-minute treatments.

Lisa Dekoster, spa director, says the Dr. Hauschka 75 and 100-minute facials include the lymphatic stimulation technique, which is “so cleansing for the skin.”

The spa also has a mineral salt scrub, coffee scrub, and Lulur body treatments that stimulate the lymphatic system and cleanse the skin.

Dr. Schwartz explains how low-level vibrations can create a mechanical response simulating lymph drainage.

“I personally use a combination of specific homeopathic remedies to stimulate drainage inside and outside of the cellular matrix, stimulating drainage,” he shares. “Just by adding this simple component to your already existing health care regimen, increased health, vitality and optimal human performance can begin to be seen in a relatively short amount of time.”
